I
L

Life

Living conditions, health, daily reality, and the person's immediate safety.

II
A

Autonomy

What the person can still decide and do, and how to preserve it.

III
P

Patrimony

Assets, property, financial rights, and the person's economic environment.

IV
A

Actors

The people around the person, and the interests each of them pursues.

The LAPA grid is read in this order, Life, Autonomy, Patrimony, Actors, on every case, every time. The sequence is the discipline.

The LAPA Methodology

One preliminary review. Five operational stages. A documented trail from first warning sign to court‑ready file.

The methodology was developed in practice, across more than 230 court‑supervised protection cases, and is published as a five‑module professional training manual in English and French editions. It turns individual judgment into a staged protocol that can be taught, applied, and audited.

STAGE 0

The Detached File Review

A preliminary methodological step: reading the file independently, before contact, to form a view that no party in the case has shaped.

STAGE 1

Protective Stabilization

Securing the person and the assets first: payment instruments, access, urgent risks, so that nothing is lost while the situation is assessed.

STAGE 2

The Multidimensional Diagnosis

The LAPA grid applied in full: life, autonomy, patrimony, actors, with warning signs identified and graded rather than merely noticed.

STAGE 3

The Proportionality Arbitration

Matching the response to the risk: the least restrictive adequate measure, justified in writing, so protection never becomes confiscation.

STAGE 4

Coordinated Action and Judicial Strategy

Courts, physicians, banks, social services, and law enforcement mobilized in sequence, with documentation designed to be used, and to hold, in court.

STAGE 5

Sustainability and Continuous Reassessment

Protection maintained over time: periodic re‑reading of the case, so the measure follows the person's situation instead of freezing it.

Operational tools include
  • The LAPA Flash 48h rapid assessment
  • The Diagnosis‑to‑Action Synthesis Sheet
  • Warning‑sign grading scales

Founder

Lena Selma Lakhssassi

Court‑appointed judicial guardian in France (mandataire judiciaire à la protection des majeurs), with more than six years of court‑supervised practice and more than 230 protection cases conducted under continuous judicial oversight, in one of the most demanding protection environments in the country.

Her cases have involved intra‑family financial exploitation, undue influence networks, caregiver abuse, contested institutional placements, and the protection of adults who could no longer speak for themselves. Two judicial decisions, of November 10, 2022 and July 8, 2025, formally recognized exceptional fiduciary diligence in her work.

She is the author of the LAPA Methodology and of its five‑module professional training manual, published in English and French editions, and she teaches the method to professional audiences in the adult‑protection field.
